In This Edition
Over the past several weeks, I have had the opportunity to participate in a number of important provincial announcements, celebrate local milestones, and connect with residents at community events across Carleton. This month’s newsletter highlights provincial investments in education, post-secondary institutions, and major sporting events, along with anniversaries, grand openings, and the many community celebrations that make our riding such a wonderful place to call home.
Inside, you’ll find highlights from Dickinson Days, Porchfest, Shroomfest, the CHEO School graduation, Canada Day celebrations, and many other events that brought neighbours together throughout the month. You’ll also read about important milestones celebrated by local schools, businesses, organizations, and volunteer groups, as well as exciting new additions to our growing communities.
You’ll also find information about my upcoming Open Door Session, the Second Annual Veterans’ Appreciation Lunch, and this month’s Team Carleton Spotlight featuring Alex, who has returned for his second summer with our constituency office.

Provincial Announcements in Ottawa
The past several weeks included a number of exciting announcements that will have a lasting impact on Ottawa and the surrounding area.
One highlight was taking part in the Official Draw for the 2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships. In just over a year, Ottawa will welcome 336 athletes from 28 teams around the world for one of the largest para sport events anywhere. Our government is investing $1.5 million to help bring this incredible
championship to our city, and I can’t wait to see Ottawa take the world stage.
I was also proud to announce more than $55 million in funding for new schools and school expansions across Ottawa. These projects include a new elementary school in Fernbank, an expansion at École élémentaire catholique Horizon Jeunesse, renovations to the former Century
Public School, and improvements at St. Patrick’s High School. Together, they’ll create more than 1,200 student spaces and 49 childcare spaces, helping ensure our growing communities have the space they need to learn and thrive.
To wrap up the month, I joined Minister of Colleges and Universities Nolan Quinn to announce an additional $663.2 million for Ottawa’s post-secondary institutions, including the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, Algonquin College, and La Cité. This investment will help strengthen programs, support students, and prepare the next generation with the skills they need for successful careers.
Whether it’s investing in students, supporting major international events, or planning for our growing communities, I’m proud to be part of a government that continues to invest in Ottawa’s future.
Local Milestones
Our communities have so much to celebrate, and June was filled with milestones that reflected both our rich history and continued growth. From anniversaries that honoured decades of service to grand openings that brought new opportunities, it was a month that showcased everything that makes Carleton such a vibrant community.
I was honoured to join École élémentaire catholique Saint-Jean-Paul as they celebrated their 20th anniversary, recognizing two decades of fostering a welcoming Francophone learning environment for students and families. The month also marked the 150th anniversary of St. James Anglican Church in Manotick, celebrating a
century and a half of faith, service, and community, while the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority celebrated 60 years of protecting our watershed, preserving natural spaces, and helping build resilient communities.
Long-standing local businesses and community organizations also reached remarkable milestones. It was a pleasure to celebrate S.A. Hicks Insurance Brokers’ 80th anniversary, recognizing a locally owned, multi-generational family business that has earned the trust of residents for decades while giving back to the community in countless ways. I was equally proud to congratulate the volunteers of Greely Fire Station 93 on
celebrating 50 years of service. Their dedication to protecting residents, responding to emergencies, and strengthening the safety of our rural communities has made a lasting impact, and I thank every past and present volunteer who has contributed to that legacy.
June also brought exciting new additions to our growing communities. I had the opportunity to visit Scout Clean Energy’s new Ottawa office and learn more about their work on the Trail Road Battery Energy Storage System project, an investment that reflects the continued growth of our region. I was pleased to help welcome the new Farm Boy in Findlay Creek, a fantastic addition for local residents that has already created nearly 150 jobs and will serve families in one of Ottawa’s fastest-growing communities.
Whether celebrating decades of service, recognizing community leaders, or welcoming new businesses, these milestones remind us that Carleton continues to grow while remaining rooted in the strong community spirit that makes our riding such a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.
One of the greatest privileges of serving as your MPP is having the opportunity to spend time in the communities that make Carleton such a special place. June was filled with festivals, fundraisers, community gatherings, and celebrations that brought neighbours together, and I was grateful to take part in so many of them.
The month began with Dickinson Days in Manotick, where thousands of residents lined the streets for the parade, visited local vendors, and enjoyed another fantastic weekend organized by the Kiwanis Club of Manotick and countless dedicated volunteers. It was wonderful to spend time at our community booth, meet so many residents, and hear what matters most to you. From there, I had the privilege of attending the Belong-a-thon hosted by Karis Disability Services, an inspiring event that celebrates inclusion while raising funds to support people living with disabilities. I was equally honoured to attend the unveiling of the Larry Ellis commemorative plaque, recognizing a man whose passion for preserving Manotick’s history continues to leave a lasting legacy.
Community generosity was on full display throughout the month. Shroomfest once again demonstrated the impact a dedicated group of volunteers can have, surpassing an incredible $1 million raised over the event’s history for local charities and organizations. Porchfest brought neighbours together through live music, while community barbecues hosted by the Richmond Volunteer Firefighters and the Stittsville
Lions provided another opportunity to connect with residents and celebrate everything that makes our villages so welcoming.
One of the most touching moments of the month was attending the CHEO School graduation. Watching these remarkable students celebrate their accomplishments alongside their families, teachers, and caregivers was a powerful reminder of the resilience, determination, and joy that exists within our community. It was truly an honour to share in such a special milestone.

We wrapped up this busy stretch by celebrating Canada Day across Carleton. My team and I visited as many celebrations as possible, from parades and car shows to family activities, live music, and community barbecues. While the weather once again kept us on our toes, it certainly didn’t dampen
the incredible community spirit on display. Thank you to every volunteer, community association, sponsor, and organizer who dedicated countless hours to making these celebrations possible. Your commitment is what makes Carleton such an exceptional place to call home.
Important Constituency Notes
Upcoming Open Door Session
My next Open Door session is currently scheduled for Wednesday, July 8th from 1PM to 4PM, barring any changes to legislative meetings, and will provide residents with the opportunity to stop by without an appointment to ask questions, share feedback, or raise any local concerns.
As details are finalized, updates will be shared on both the events page on my website and on my social media, so please follow along to stay up to date.
I always value the chance to connect directly with residents and greatly look forward to the conversations and feedback that come out of these sessions.
2nd Annual Veterans’ Appreciation Lunch
My Second Annual Veterans’ Appreciation Lunch will take place on July 18 from 11:30AM to 1:30PM at the Manotick Legion.
This event is an opportunity to recognize and thank the veterans whose service, sacrifice, and dedication have helped protect the freedoms and values we enjoy today. It is also a chance to bring veterans together for an afternoon of conversation, camaraderie, and appreciation in the company of fellow veterans and community members.

I look forward to welcoming veterans from across Carleton as we come together to honour their contributions and express our gratitude for their service.
Team Carleton Spotlight – Meet Alex
Behind every constituency office is a dedicated team working hard to help residents navigate government services, support local organizations, and stay connected with communities across the riding. Each month, I’m highlighting one member of Team Carleton to give you a chance to get to know the people who work alongside me every day.
This month, I’d like to introduce Alex, who has returned to Team Carleton for his second summer.
Many of you may have likely already met Alex at one of the many community events we’ve attended this summer. Whether he’s assisting residents at our booth, helping behind the scenes at events, conducting research, or supporting day-to-day operations in the constituency office, Alex is always willing to step in wherever he’s needed. His positive attitude and willingness to take on any task make him an important part of our team.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy with a minor in Communications and is currently
completing his Master’s degree in Philosophy at Carleton University. He brings strong research and analytical skills to our office while gaining valuable experience serving residents and supporting our work throughout the riding.
Outside of the office, Alex enjoys spending time with his family, playing card games, and is currently (and, by his own admission, slowly!) learning German.
If you happen to see Alex out in the community this summer, you’ll likely find him supporting residents and helping our team wherever it’s needed.
News Releases and Funding Opportunities
News Releases:
Ontario Investing $25.7 Million to Build New School & School Addition: I was pleased to announce over $25.7 million to construct a new school and expand an existing school. A new catholic elementary school will be built on at 625 Cope Drive in Stittsville.
Ontario Investing $29.4 Million to Create New School and Build School Addition: At the Ottawa Catholic School Board, I announced that our government will be providing $29.4 million to retrofit Century Public School, and an addition/retrofit at St Patrick’s High School.
Ontario Investing Over $664 Million in Ottawa Post-Secondary Institutions: I was joined by Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security Nolan Quinn to announce a total local allocation of an additional $663.2 million to University of Ottawa, Carleton University, Algonquin College and La Cité.
Ontario Raising Speed Limits on Most Provincial Highways: Speed limits will be raised from 100km/hour to 110km/hour on an additional 938 kilometres of provincial highways, building on previous safe and successful increases in 2024 and 2022.
Ontario Investing $6 Million to Support Young Entrepreneurs: This funding will support entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 to 39 access to collateral-free loans of up to $75,000, and two years of mentorship and business resources.
Ontario Investing $60 Million to Upgrade Student Learning Resources: Starting in September 2026, all teachers will have access to a digital learning platform providing interactive learning tools that allow students to track and improve their progress, and for teachers to tailor instructions and supports.
Ontario Recognizes Outstanding Seniors: 18 exceptional seniors were recognized with the 2025 Ontario Senior Achievement Award, including Diane Doré from Ottawa.
Breaking Ground on Ring of Fire Road: The ambitious plan for the Ring of Fire will create 70,000 good-paying jobs, provide access to critical minerals and add $22 billion to the provincial economy, with roads scheduled to open between 2030-2031.
Nuclear Refurbishment at Bruce Power: Completed seven months ahead of schedule and $150 million under budget, this completion will provide more than 800 megawatts of reliable and clean power for over 35 years, enough to power more than 800,000 homes.
Funding Opportunities:
Eastern Ontario Development Fund Applications Open: Eligible businesses can apply for funding to help grow their businesses, improve productivity, and invest in innovation. Funding could represent up to 15% of eligible project costs, to a maximum of $5 million. Application period deadline is September 23rd, 2026.
Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness Stream Open: This stream provides financial support to advanced manufacturing companies with a focus on small and medium-sized entreprises for investments in capital equipment, technology adoption, and skills development. Application period deadline is September 23rd, 2026.
Ontario Sport Hosting Program: Funding is available to a variety of organizations, including not-for-profits, to help provide project-based funding to help applicants deliver major national and international amateur sport events in Ontario. Application period deadline is 5PM on July 13th, 2026.
Skills Development Fund – Capital Stream: Funding is available for employers, non-profit organizations, trade unions, employer associations and more to build new training centres, upgrade existing training centres, or convert an existing building into a training centre. Continuous intake period, assessed on a rolling basis until funding is fully allocated.
Legislative Business and Government Bills
No new legislation has been passed since the last newsletter. The house resumes sitting on October 27th, 2026.

Ontario Regulatory Registry: This registry posts new or amended provincial policy proposals that may affect businesses, organizations and communities. You can provide comments to be reviewed by ministries.
Environmental Registry of Ontario: This registry posts notices on amendments related to the environment, including acts, regulations, permits, approvals and orders.
