Ontario Investing in Repairs and Upgrades to Ottawa Community Organizations

October 1, 2025

Over $1.1 million investment in social services will ensure Ontarians have access to
high-quality programs

OTTAWA — The Ontario government is investing over $1.1 million in critical upgrades
and repairs to 12 children’s and social services facilities in Ottawa. The funding is part
of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by connecting people to the services they
need, where they need it. The $16 million investment this year will help ensure that
agencies across the province continue to offer support in safe and accessible facilities.

“Local agencies are at the core of every strong community. That’s why our government
is proud to invest in Ottawa,” said Carleton MPP George Darouze. “By funding these
repairs and upgrades, we are helping ensure that vulnerable Ontarians can access
high-quality services and supports in safe and accessible spaces.”

Funding through the Partner Facility Renewal program is provided to agencies, such as
shelters for women and children, homes that provide daily support for people with
developmental disabilities, facilities for survivors of human trafficking, and facilities for
children and youth with special needs.

The $16 million investment will help 153 community agencies across the province
complete essential repairs and upgrades to roofing and air conditioning, enhancements
to security systems, and retrofits to kitchens and bathrooms to improve accessibility.

In Ottawa, the agencies receiving funding are:

  • Tamir Foundation to help replace and repair accessible ramps, renovate bathrooms and basements, and more
  • Total Communication Environment to improve building accessibility and safety
  • Tungasuvvingat Inuit to help enhance building safety and mechanical infrastructure
  • Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre to assist with building maintenance
  • Karis Disability Services to improve building accessibility and update the fire suppression system
  • L’Arche-Ottawa to improve building maintenance
  • Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OCAPDD) to assist with building exterior maintenance
  • Maison d’amitié to improve building security
  • Ontario Native Women’s Association for mechanical updates
  • Interval House of Ottawa to assist with building interior maintenance
  • Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa to assist with building interior maintenance
  • St. Mary’s Home to assist with building interior maintenance

“Community agencies make our province stronger and more vibrant by connecting
people to the services they need, where they need it” said Michael Parsa, Minister of
Children, Community and Social Services. “That’s why our government is investing in
hundreds of local community agencies so that they can spend more time helping people
and less time worrying about building repairs.”
