One-time funding will support approximately 7,300 additional CT hours and help reduce wait times for patients

OTTAWA – The Ontario government is providing $1,825,000 in one-time funding to support expanded access to computed tomography (CT) services in Ottawa, helping connect more patients and families with timely diagnostic care closer to home.
The investment will fund approximately 7,300 additional CT service hours at Merivale Medical Imaging MRI & CT, increasing diagnostic imaging capacity and helping reduce wait times for patients requiring scans for a wide range of medical conditions.
“Our government is continuing to protect Ontario’s health-care system and ensure that patients can access the care they need, when they need it,” said George Darouze, MPP for Carleton. “This investment will help expand diagnostic imaging capacity in Ottawa, and improve access to CT services for residents of Carleton and the region.”
This builds on Ontario’s investment of $155 million over two years to add 57 new community surgical and diagnostic centres licensed to deliver MRI and CT scans, and gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy services across the province.
“Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government is taking bold, decisive action to protect Ontario’s health-care system by boosting access to vital surgeries and diagnostic imaging so that families can conveniently access the care they need sooner,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “By funding additional CT hours at Merivale Medical Imaging, we are reducing wait times and ensuring more people can receive timely diagnostic care in the Ottawa Region, for years to come.”
As part of Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care, Ontario continues to take bold and decisive action to expand the number of community surgical and diagnostic centres, connecting more patients to high-quality care, and ensuring people and their families have access to high-quality care, closer to home, for generations to come.
