Ontario Investing Over $51 Million to Support Hospital Operations in Ottawa

OTTAWA – The Ontario government is investing $51,071,700 to support improved operations and reduced wait times at The Ottawa Hospital, Queensway Carleton Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Hôpital Montfort, Bruyere Health, and the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group. This funding is part of a $1.1 billion investment into our hospital sector as part of Budget 2026, A Plan to Protect Ontario, which represents a 4 per cent increase in annual support for the fourth year in a row.
“This increase in hospital operating funding will help ensure residents of Carleton continue to have access to the high-quality care they rely on,” said George Darouze, MPP for Carleton. “By providing hospitals with the resources they need to meet growing demand and deliver essential services, our government is strengthening Ontario’s health care system and supporting better care for patients and families close to home.”
This investment will support the operations of core clinical services at hospitals in Ottawa so they can better meet patient needs. This includes funding to help keep their emergency department open, support inflationary or other wage pressures, and reduce wait times for diagnostic imaging and surgical procedures, including MRI, CT, cardiac, stroke, neuroservices, orthopedics and cataracts, so that people can connect to care faster.
“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in Ottawa can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment will allow hospitals in Ottawa to continue delivering the highest standard of care while reducing wait lists and wait times for patients and families, for generations to come.”
Ontario continues to make historic investments in health care. Over the next 10 years, Ontario is investing approximately $64 billion in major health infrastructure. This is part of the government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds to enhance access to quality care and build a connected, people-first health-care system.

- Ottawa is home to four acute care hospitals, as well as multiple specialized care and rehabilitation hospitals which provide care to thousands of Ottawans and Eastern Ontarians annually.
- The Ontario government is investing $257 million in 2025-26 to support critical infrastructure upgrades and repairs at 126 hospitals and 66 community health-care facilities across the province, a 12.3 per cent increase from the previous year.

OTTAWA – Le gouvernement de l’Ontario investit 51 071 700 dollars pour soutenir l’amélioration des opérations et la réduction des temps d’attente à l’Hôpital d’Ottawa, à l’Hôpital Queensway Carleton, à l’Hôpital pour enfants de l’Est de l’Ontario (CHEO), à l’Hôpital Montfort, à Santé Bruyère. et au Royal Ottawa Health Care Group. Ce financement s’inscrit dans le cadre d’un investissement de 1,1 milliard de dollars dans notre secteur hospitalier prévu par le budget 2026, intitulé « Un plan pour protéger l’Ontario », ce qui représente une quatrième hausse consécutive de quatre pour cent du financement annuel.
« Cette augmentation du financement de fonctionnement des hôpitaux contribuera à garantir que les gens de Carleton continuent d’avoir accès aux soins de haute qualité sur lesquels ils comptent », a déclaré George Darouze, député provincial de Carleton. « En fournissant les ressources dont les hôpitaux ont besoin pour répondre à la demande croissante et dispenser des services essentiels, notre gouvernement renforce le système de santé de l’Ontario. De plus, il favorise la prestation de meilleurs soins aux patients et à leurs familles, près de leur domicile. »
Cet investissement permettra de soutenir le fonctionnement des services cliniques essentiels dans les hôpitaux d’Ottawa afin qu’ils puissent mieux répondre aux besoins des patients. Il comprend notamment des fonds destinés à maintenir les services d’urgence ouverts, à faire face à la pression inflationniste ou à d’autres pressions salariales, et à réduire les délais d’attente pour les examens d’imagerie diagnostique et les interventions chirurgicales, notamment en IRM, en tomodensitométrie, en cardiologie, en prise en charge des AVC, en neurologie, en orthopédie et en chirurgie de la cataracte, afin que les patients puissent accéder plus rapidement aux soins.
« Notre gouvernement réalise des investissements historiques pour protéger le système de santé de l’Ontario, en veillant à ce que davantage de personnes puissent accéder aux soins dont elles ont besoin à Ottawa, là où elles en ont besoin et quand elles en ont besoin », a déclaré Sylvia Jones, vice-première ministre et ministre de la Santé. « Cet investissement permettra aux hôpitaux d’Ottawa de continuer à fournir des soins de la plus haute qualité tout en réduisant les listes d’attente et les délais d’attente pour les patients et leurs familles, et ce, pour les générations à venir. »
L’Ontario continue d’agir avec des investissements historiques dans les soins de santé. Au cours des dix prochaines années, la province investira environ 64 milliards de dollars dans les grandes infrastructures de santé. Cette initiative s’inscrit dans le cadre du plan du gouvernement visant à lancer la construction de plus de 50 grands projets hospitaliers à travers la province, qui permettront de créer environ 3 000 nouveaux lits d’hôpital afin d’améliorer l’accès à des soins de qualité et de bâtir un système de santé interconnecté et centré sur les personnes.
Grâce au plan « Votre santé : un plan pour des soins connectés et pratiques », le gouvernement de l’Ontario élargit l’accès aux services essentiels afin d’offrir à la population les soins adaptés, au bon endroit et à proximité de chez elle.
