Funding will help ensure families have access to high-quality programs

NEWS

OTTAWA – The Ontario government is providing $543,600 to support essential upgrades and repairs at 8 community agencies in Ottawa. This funding is part of the government’s $25 million investment in critical infrastructure repairs this year, helping ensure community agencies across the province can continue delivering essential services to those who rely on them most.

“Community agencies provide invaluable services that support residents and strengthen communities across Ottawa,” said George Darouze, MPP for Carleton. “Through the Partner Facility Renewal program, our government is helping these organizations maintain and improve the spaces where they deliver essential services, ensuring they can continue serving residents and meeting the needs of our growing community for years to come.”

Funding from the Partner Facility Renewal program supports a range of organizations, including shelters for women and children who have experienced or may be at risk of violence, residences that offer day-to-day support for individuals with developmental disabilities, facilities serving survivors of human trafficking, organizations dedicated to supporting Indigenous communities, and centres that provide services for children and youth with special needs.

The $25 million investment will support 192 community agencies across the province in carrying out critical repairs and upgrades, including improvements to roofing and air conditioning systems, enhanced security features, and accessibility retrofits to kitchens and bathrooms.

In Ottawa, funding is being provided to the following agencies:

  • John Howard Society of Ottawa for HVAC and generator replacement
  • Ottawa Foyer Partage for plumbing repairs, basement washroom restoration, furnace replacement, and more
  • OCAPDD for deck and ramp replacement, waterproofing, and entrance accessibility upgrades
  • Ottawa-Carleton Lifeskills for an accessible door installation
  • Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa for a washroom renovation
  • The Ottawa Rotary Home for an accessible washroom lift installation and walkway repairs
  • Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa for fire alarm upgrades, fence and gate installation, and backflow/fire prevention system installation
  • Karis Disability Services (East Region) for a washroom renovation focused on accesibility

“Community-based organizations are essential in helping people across Ontario access reliable programs and services,” said Michael Parsa, Minister of Children, Community and Social Services. “Through these investments, our government is supporting hundreds of agencies so they can continue providing children, youth and families with the tools and support they need to succeed in their communities.”
