NEWS

OTTAWA — The Ontario government is welcoming an investment of $5,251,336 by MDS Aero Support Corporation, an Ottawa-based designer and builder that serves the aviation, marine and energy sectors, to enhance production capabilities and create 10 new, good-paying jobs in Ottawa.

The investment was announced today by George Darouze, Member of Provincial Parliament for Carleton.

“By supporting strategic investments from regional businesses, our government is protecting Ontario’s workers and creating the conditions for a strong, stable, and resilient economy that can weather any storm,” said George Darouze, MPP for Carleton. “MDS Aero Support Corporation’s investment will support growth and innovation across the local manufacturing sector and create more good-paying jobs for workers and families in Ottawa.”

With this investment, MDS Aero will acquire advanced and innovative equipment to support the growing electric and hybrid aviation engine market. This will allow them to build, validate, and deploy next-generation measurement systems more efficientially, and strengthen its competitiveness in a rapidly evolving aerospace sector.

“Support from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund allows MDS to accelerate investment in advanced measurement technologies that enhance our competitiveness in global markets,” said John Jastremski, CEO of MDS Aero Support Corporation. “Sustained innovation and technological development are critical to our growth, to maintaining our competitive edge, and to meeting the demands of an industry that is both highly technical and rapidly evolving.”

In support of this investment, the government is providing MDS Aero Support Corporation with $627,410 in funding through the Regional Development Program’s Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF).

“Employing more than 800,000 workers across the province, Ontario’s manufacturing sector is the economic engine of our nation,” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. “Our government is proud to support local companies like MDS Aero Support Corporation as they expand their operations, and we thank them for their contributions to Ontario’s dynamic and growing manufacturing ecosystem.”

Ontario is investing over $230 million through its Regional Development Program to help manufacturers across the province grow while supporting distinct regional priorities. To date, Ontario has supported more than 180 projects through the program, leveraging more than $2.6 billion in new investments and helping to create over 5,500 jobs.
